Content Management covers the creation and control of the information published to a website. Whether this content is news items, product and service information or the actual site content itself, modern companies need to know that information is checked and approved prior to being made public.

ADT's Content Management System, which is built on the ICE platform, operates both as a standalone solution or as an integrated tool for existing websites. It is completely web based and can work in coordination with other editing tools so that it is perfect for intranets, extranets and websites. In many ways the system acts as a site builder in that the entire structure of the website can be built and articles can be placed in any number of places on the site. This interlinking and flexible placing of articles allows you to create a user flow through your site to lead the site visitor to purchasing your product or service.

ICE: Content Management supports the following features:

Article Management

An article represents the main content that a site visitor sees when clicking on a menu or a page link. Article management allows you to create, edit and delete a wide variety of content types. Content can be stored directly in the database through an easy to use wizard or it can be stored in existing HTML files. It is even possible to derive article content from a series of web links.

In addition to managing the actual content, the article wizard allows you to set or change content options, such as:

• Specify where the content will appear on the site.

• Select when the content will appear on the site and if it needs to be removed after a certain timeframe.

• Set article display options or change the display templates that an article type uses.

• You can set article visibility and control the publishing process so that you can specify who has rights to create, edit, delete and approve articles.

• The article wizard allows you to incorporate graphics directly into content pages or to upload images to the article template to help create a more uniform layout to your content pages.

• Related Articles can be linked to an article to provide a flow path through the site.

• Articles can be placed in multiple categories so that they appear in multiple locations in the site.

All Article listings are fully searchable and can be filtered to help manage groups of articles.

Category Management

Category management allows you to totally control the structure of your website. It includes a facility to create new menus on the system so that new sections of your website can be added at will. Again, an approval process is incorporated into the change process so that structural changes are published in a controlled manner

A Category can correspond to a specific page of the site or to an entire section, allowing either a single page or a multi-page list to be displayed. Much of this is handled automatically unless the display requirements mandate larger scale changes to the site - in such cases site templates can also be changed via the content manager.

User Management

Content management is completely integrated with a user management system that allows you specify which users have access to the different options and which users are allowed to approve items for publishing.

Template Management

In order to make it easier to manage the appearance of content, we also provide for systems we have designed a complete template library that allows layouts to be edited. Keeping the site layout separate from the content is a key aspect of content manager in that it is a relatively simple process to change a site's entire look and feel without needing to re-deploy or re-program the content management system.
